Jennifer Damiano: Spider-Man’s Leading Lady

At the age of 19, Jennifer Damiano has already earned a Tony Award nomination for her role as Natalie in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal. She is now starring as Mary Jane Watson in the highly anticipated Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark at the Foxwoods Theatre. TheaterMania recently spoke to Damiano about the show.

THEATERMANIA: You made your Broadway debut at 15 in Spring Awakening, which made you the youngest member of the original cast, and now this is your third Broadway musical. What have you learned along the way?

Michael Urie Talks AMADEUS & ANGELS

Michael Urie, best known for his charming portrayal of Marc St. James on ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” will star as Mozart in Amadeus at the Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh, North Carolina. The show, which will play this weekend only, marks the first-ever collaboration between the North Carolina Symphony and PlayMakers Repertory Company. In 2009, Urie received a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actor when he originated the role of Rudi Gernreich in the off-Broadway play, The Temperamentals. And, beginning in February 2011, he will be taking on the role of Prior Walter in the first New York City revival of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.… Read the rest

Dee Snider: One for the Ages

Besides being the frontman for the 1980s rock band Twisted Sister, Long Island’s own Dee Snider hosts a nationally syndicated weekly radio show House of Hair, is the author of Dee Snider’s Teenage Survival Guide, and stars in the A&E reality show Growing Up Twisted. Oh, and let’s not forget he’s a Broadway actor now, playing nightclub owner and aging hippie Dennis in the hit musical Rock of Ages through December 24. TheaterMania caught up with Snider to discuss the show, his other projects, and his plans for 2011.
